CLUB GAME RULES

SEYMOUR VRI CLUB GAME RULES

The following rules are to assist in the enjoyment off all competing members and to ensure the smooth running of the competitions. Rules will be strictly enforced to enable matches to be played on time. Your name placed on the entry sheet confirms your understanding of these rules

1. MARKERS

The top named player will be responsible for arranging the playing time and marker

2. DIFFICULTY ARRANGING PLAYING of GAMES

If any competitor has trouble arranging his match with his opponent, he should contact the Match Committee at least 48 hours before the final date of each stage

3. SCRATCHINGS

The Match Committee reserves the right to scratch any competitor who has not completed their match by the closure date of each stage. They shall also rule on any problems associated with the competition

4. HANDICAP SINGLES (Handicaps are on the Notice Board)

These games are played 21 Up with the higher handicapper starting in the minus e.g. Eddie is 10 and Raphael is 4 – the difference is 6 so Eddie starts at -6.

5. HANDICAP PAIRS (Handicaps are on the Notice Board)

These games are played with 3 bowls each over 15 Ends with the higher handicappers starting in the minus e.g. Eddie is 10 and Raphael is 4 a total of 14 whilst their opponents Mitch is 8 and Les is 5 a total of 13 – the difference is 1 so Eddie and Raphael start at -1.

6. 100 UP HANDICAP (Handicaps are on the Notice Board)

These games are played to 100 UP with the handicaps multiplied by 2.5 and the higher handicapper starting in the minus e.g. Eddie is on 10 so 10 x 2.5 = 25 and Raphael is on 5 so 5 x 2.5 (taken to the next whole number) = 13 – the difference is 12 so Eddie starts -12. Points are allotted on the basis of closest to the jack e.g. Shot = 4, 2nd shot = 3, 3rd shot = 2, and 4th shot = 1, a total of 10 points per end. The first player to reach 100 or higher after the completion of that end is the winner. If both player’s scores are equal an extra end is to be played. The player with the shot bowl has the mat.
